Pick the installation path you actually need
| What you want | Use this | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Use someone else's shared paint | In-game mod.io livery browser | The appearance of its matching vehicle. |
| Try a private or downloaded local paint pack | A subfolder in LocalLiveries | A local livery visible on your own machine. |
| Drive with more than four people | A separate gameplay mod and its loader | Session behavior; not an ordinary paint pack. |
| Add a new vehicle model | A separately documented vehicle pipeline | A livery manifest alone cannot do this. |
This separates the official livery workflow from external gameplay modifications. The developer's documentation and a launch-week mod-kit question do not establish a general new-car importer. [1] [2]
Subscribe, enable, apply
- Open the livery mods browser. On first use, review the mod.io terms presented by the game.
- Find a pack for the vehicle you want, subscribe, and check that the pack is enabled.
- Visit the garage or mechanic for that car and choose the new paint from its livery list.
A disabled subscribed pack remains downloaded but hides its liveries. The official guide says mod.io liveries can be downloaded temporarily by teammates; a purely local pack is not shared that way. [1] Browse Over the Hill packs on mod.io ↗ (opens in a new tab)

Using an existing local pack on Windows
Put the unpacked pack in its own folder under Documents/My Games/over the hill/LocalLiveries/. Keep its manifest and referenced images together. At the mechanic's Livery Mods tab, turn on Show local mods, then select the livery. Local packs are folders, not zip files. [1]
The Supra Livery author shared a LocalLiveries pack in the October 15 community thread and later confirmed a mod.io upload. That is a real example of the two distribution paths, not a reason to treat an arbitrary file as an official game update. [3]
Downloaded, but nothing appears?
- Wrong car: open the pack's matching vehicle.
- Subscribed pack: check that it is enabled.
- Local pack: show local mods and check that the pack has its own folder.
- Only one entry missing: its car identifier or texture filename may be wrong; the creator should check that entry.
These checks follow the official livery guide. For a pack you are authoring, use the manifest tool and complete setup instructions in the creator guide below. [1]
