Before the convoy rolls
- Decide whether you are playing vanilla. Four drivers fit the original game. For a fifth, everyone needs the same compatible mod setup; keep that separate from a normal session.
- Agree on the objective. Say which trail or recovery you are doing before someone completes it while the others are elsewhere.
- Check every driver's completion. At a checkpoint, wait for each player to arrive and check their own objective record. Shared travel and personal completion are different things.
- Check your own progress before leaving. The FAQ confirms completed objectives transfer between modes. It does not promise that an unfinished job or your exact parking position will be restored after a crash.
This checklist combines the developer's progress rules with the launch-week reward question below. It is a coordination method, not an additional game mechanic. [1] [2]
Why did my friend get the reward and I did not?
On October 14, OneEyedDannyBoy reported missing a rescue unlock while a friend completed the job nearby. A reply described both players attaching their winches directly to the rescued vehicle and both receiving the reward at the destination. That is one community report, not proof that every nearby player shares a recovery reward. [2]

Which kind of co-op can you play?
| Question | What to plan around |
|---|---|
| Maximum group | Four drivers total in the original game. |
| Split screen or couch co-op | The developer FAQ says local co-op is not currently feasible. |
| Solo after co-op | Completed objectives carry between the two modes. |
| PC with a future console version | The FAQ says yes to cross-play as a plan. Console ports are planned for 2027; that does not establish a working PC-to-console session today. |
These are the published mode rules and platform plans, checked October 19. Recheck the exact platform pair when a console version becomes available. [1]
An endless load after a portal
The October 16 update specifically fixed clients loading indefinitely after taking a portal following camping in the same session. Update the game before repeating that sequence. A different connection error, such as a room not being found, is not automatically the same bug. [3]
If it continues, record the host and client versions, whether camping happened first, and whether the same player can enter a fresh session. Send that sequence to Steam support discussions ↗ (opens in a new tab). These are useful diagnostic checks, not confirmed fixes for unrelated connection problems.
