Use the template for the car you are painting
The official guide provides the vehicle template download on Google Drive ↗ (opens in a new tab). Choose the matching vehicle layout. A texture painted against another car's UV layout can appear smeared or misaligned.
The guide recommends a 2048 × 2048, power-of-two body texture and a 512 × 512 preview. Export a PNG and keep its exact filename for the manifest. Our manifest tool cannot check the artwork's panel alignment or appearance. [1]
Build a one-livery manifest
Select the internal car identifier and enter the filenames you will put in the pack. An optional display name and preview image can be included. Nothing is uploaded or stored by this tool.
The official schema requires car and texture inside a liveries array. Keep one file named exactly manifest.json; invalid JSON prevents a pack loading. [1]

Test the plain folder first
On Windows, create a pack folder such as Documents/My Games/over the hill/LocalLiveries/MyTrailPaint/. Put the downloaded manifest and its referenced PNG files inside it. Do not zip the local version.
- Open the matching car at the garage/mechanic.
- In its Livery Mods tab, enable Show local mods.
- Select the local paint. If you edit the manifest or image, use Refresh local mods.
- If it is absent, compare the selected car ID and exact image filename before changing the artwork.
The official guide documents these controls; we have checked its instructions, not run your pack. [1]
Publish only when the local pack is ready
Zip the pack contents and add it on Over the Hill's mod.io page ↗ (opens in a new tab). Add the human-readable vehicle tag, then subscribe and enable it in the game to check the published version. A local-only livery is not shared with teammates. [1]
Keep the local folder while checking the published pack. If one entry loads but another does not, inspect that entry's car and texture fields; if nothing loads, check the manifest filename and JSON syntax first. The generator makes a valid one-entry document, but it cannot confirm that your image files exist or fit the chosen car.
